The incident on May 10 took place on a flight from Manchester to Tenerife. It is thought the pair had been drinking prior to the flight, although this has yet to be confirmed.
A spokesman for the Civil Guard on Tenerife island said: “Two young men told air stewardesses they had a bomb in their hand luggage. At this point emergency procedures were started. When the plane landed officers boarded and the two men were arrested.”
