The aim of the English for Ground School sub-module is to give trainee pilots the opportunity to practice the English language skills needed during both the ground school and cockpit/simulator-based phases of training.
You will practice reading, writing, speaking and listening in the context of authentic aviation training, at a suitable level for your experience.
You will improve your understanding of technical vocabulary and revise aviation theory so that you will perform better on the Basic Aeronautical Knowledge Certificate Programme.

Michael is the Managing Director of Aviation English Asia Ltd. He is very passionate about both aviation and language training and has been training airline employees since 2006. Michael advocates a communicative style of content-based learning to give learners sufficient practice of the core skills that they really need. He is a graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London), BPP Law School and has a Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of a Second or Other Language (Trinity Cert TESOL).
Gary is a qualified English teacher (Trinity Cert TESOL) currently flying Boeing 747-800 aircraft for a Hong Kong based carrier. He lives in Hong Kong and is committed to encouraging young people to join the industry and achieve the levels of English proficiency that are needed.
Nicholas has more than 30 years experience in sales of aviation training including simulators, pilot training and cadet programmes on behalf of major aerospace manufacturers and training providers. He is a graduate of Cranfield University (MBA Business Management), Diploma in Marketing (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and is a qualified English teacher (Trinity Cert TESOL).
Brendan is a Senior Captain flying Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. He is a former RAF pilot and has flown a wide range of aircraft including the Hawk, Boeing 747 and various high altitude aircraft. He has a lot of experience teaching pilots from ab initio (from the beginning) all the way up to fighter pilots. He has a degree in biology and enjoys sailing in his free time. If you would like to benefit from his 40 years of aviation experience, or even go sailing he will be very pleased to talk with you.
