All of our teaching staff are graduates and come from varied teaching backgrounds.
They are suitably qualified with an externally assessed English teaching qualification, eg CELTA, Trinity Cert TESOL and significant classroom based teaching experience / industry experience. All teaching staff are actively involved in professional development.
Michael is the Managing Director of Aviation English Asia Ltd. He is very passionate about both aviation and language training and has been training airline employees since 2006. He lives in Hong Kong and is committed to providing the best support possible for English learners to achieve the levels of English proficiency that they need. Michael advocates a communicative style of content-based learning to give learners sufficient practice of the core skills that they really need. He is a graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London), BPP Law School and has a Trinity Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of a Second or Other Language (Trinity Cert TESOL). He enjoys beach volleyball, playing guitar and helping people achieve their dreams.
Stephen is the Academic Director of Aviation English Asia Ltd and is responsible for the South East Asia region. He has an MA in Applied Linguistics and is a keen aviator. Stephen has over 15 years of experience in teaching English as a second language, working for many highly regarded institutions including British Council and International House. Steve has been a full time lecturer for Chinese University Hong Kong, University of Newcastle, Nottingham University and is registered as an examiner for Cambridge University.
Chris is currently a commercial pilot who flies Airbus aircraft when not teaching with Aviation English Asia. Chris’s flying career includes more than 4,000 hours of flight time in over 20 types of aircraft, both in commercial and military aviation. While in the military Chris flew helicopters and fast-jet aircraft, as well as instructing in his capacity as a qualified military pilot instructor. In 2004 he graduated from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Chris completed his CELTA TEFL qualification in Beijing, China, and he is also learning to speak Mandarin Chinese.
Sean is a Trinity College London qualified English teacher and is currently undertaking the final stages of an MA (TESOL) with a British university. He is also a professionally qualified lawyer with considerable experience in legal practice in the UK and mainland Europe.
Sean lives in Hong Kong and has been teaching English to students at various levels for a variety of purposes, including social English, advanced academic English (for current and prospective post garduate students), public speaking and presentation skills. He believes that learning should be a pleasurable experience and using English is the key. This is reflected in Sean's informal and communicative approach to teaching English.
Kumar assists with course development and is also responsible for scheduling. He is an mPhil student researching English for Aeronautical Communications. We are very happy to have him as part of the team.
Tony is part of our Internet Marketing team. Based in Hong Kong he helps us communicate with our customers.
