You may have seen "cabin crew courses" offered by other course providers. Often these just include information about the nature of the job and the airline industry. Some courses even offer 'practical' training. Other courses will train you to memorise answers to interview questions. However, In-flight English is nothing like those courses.
In fact, cabin crew courses are generally regarded with disfavor by airlines. This is because airlines will train you in everything that you need to know to be a flight attendant, so you don't need to pay for that kind of training yourself. For the purposes of getting a job you will need to have
(1) good customer service skills,
(2) cultural awareness and
(3) good communication skills (particularly in English).
The In-flight English course will certainly help you improve your English, and will be more interesting than General English courses. At the same time you can develop your cultural awareness and increase your awareness of good and bad customer service. These are valuable skills that offer both you and airline employers great benefit.
Aviation English Asia students are confident in using English in the workplace, and capable of managing difficult situations in real life - not just for an interview.
Airlines will see that you have been proactive in improving your English and also in increasing your awareness of other cultures. If you choose to take an English assessment, recruiters will note your level of proficiency in English and be more likely to give you an interview. However taking the course does not guarantee a job and we advise people to be careful of any course provider that does make that kind of promise.
When you get to the interview stage you will be much more confident and prepared to take on the role of flight attendant. However, In-flight English does more than prepare you for an interview. In-flight English is an English course that will help you communicate with confidence in all aspects of your life.
